Default 1st job completed!!!....rather slow???

Hi guys,
just want your opinions on the timing of my first bit of tiling

It was a splashback in my sisters flat, about 3sqm of mosaque, they were black and seemed to be made of some sort of glass??? that reminds me what would you's guys have used to cut these???
I started on saturday about 10ish and finished at about 6.30 with a little help from my mate along the way.....and went back on sunday for about 4 hours to grout and clean up etc.....
Is this ok timewise considering it was my first start to finish tiling job?
She was delighted with the outcome and i must admit i was a bit chuffed with it myself....looked really nice the black with the clean white grout and the chrome trim to match her sockets.
any opinions on this appreciated
cheers
brian

Brian... well done for finishing your first job. Speed only comes with time.

If your sister was pleased and you were too then you must have given it enough time to get it right so no you're not too slow - it's just your first job that's all.

Wait 'till you get some nice easy 6x6's and then judge your speed.

The grouting seems a while but with mosaics there is a load more grout per square meter than your average tiled wall. So don't let that count for much.

I'd cut most glass mosaics with my nippers, some may need a little score. Glas reacts well to scoring but if the mosaics had a finish on them it can sometimes chip off a little or something. Generally though, your nippers should be the thing you go for in your tool kit with mosaics.

thanks guys.
dan- my nippers is mainly what i used and i found they were not too bad but there was one particular cut which nearly got the better of me(think i got it on about my 5th attempt) and i eventually nipped so much off then gently filed it into the curved shape i needed

Cutting the chrome trim held me back a bit as well......struggle a bit dont know if it was due to my hacksaw......what do you's guys use??? i was just using a junior hacksaw and a mitre box....is there something else to make life easier as i wasn't 100% happy with the outcome of the meeting corners

Nothing wrong with whatever time it takes on your first job mate, as long as the finish is good then that's all that counts.

Well done
