Default vinyl floor tiles

Got to tile a shop in my town.

Remove the carpet tiles first? will use a floor scraper for this, then they want me to lay vinyl tiles, i have not laid these before,

Any advice, adhesive? trowel type

Many thanks

You need to speak to your local contract flooring firm to find out where to get trowels from. They are a very fine, thin bed trowell. Bed is even thinner than a 6mm mosaic trowel.
The floor needs to be pretty good, level and free from imperfections otherwise you don't stand a chance.
i do some work for a local contract flooring company - they stock self levelling compound by the pallet load for this purpose.
Once you have removed carpet tiles take a view if floor needs levelling first !!

Also you will need some special cleaner to get the flooring adhesive off your trowell. Does not clean with soap and water - otherwise your trowell will be knackered and you will have to buy a new one.

I don't lay them but what I've seen is the use of laytex slc left to dry then rubbed over with a carbarundem stone and that's on floor screed's, So if your scrapping up glued carpet tile's I'd be looking at some prep work

Vinyl tiles are normally laid by painters or carpet layers, not by tilers. I guess you should check a forum for those guys and take a look at the FAQ´s there regarding advice, adhesive and so on. Martin

hi
on the back of the tile you will see a arrow , if you want a checked pattern then one arrow up on the 1st tile ,the second tile put the arrow to the right . and so on this will give you the checked pattern , if you dont want a pattern then the arrows all the same way ,also check the tile mesurement , make sure they are 500x500,if they are you can do the checked pattern if not then all the arrows in the same direction .
