Hi,

Just ripped out horrid wooden pannels lower half of my bathroom wall.
Unfortunatly this has left the wall behind it not level with the top half of the wall by about an inch.

I'm looking to get the whole wall tiled and someone suggested filling in the bottom half with gyprock to make if flush with the top half then tile over it.

Any opinions on this and if it would work ok?

If not any other suggestions?

You can tile over gyproc ok. You didn't say what the rest of the wall was made from as this can have a bearing on tile fixing. If you are out of level by an inch as you say, you may need to pack out underneath where the gyproc is going to be fixed to bring the surface level as gyproc is typically only 12mm thick.

If you are to be tiling into a wet area you may want to consider a cement based backer board instead as these are much more water resistant.

You didn't give much information about the type and size of tiles you wish to fix in your question and this can have an impact on your job requirements for adhesive etc.

strange, i was gonna ask that very same question

hardie backer from topps should just about do it then.
what would i use to dot and dab the boards, baring in mind that its straight onto brick?
i thought dot and dab and screw it down just to be sure?
any suggestions?
