Default how much adhesive-am i being ripped off?

Hi just looking for some advice, i'm tiling a 17sq yd(15sq m) hall ,with level cement base, and have been told that i need 7 x 20kg bags of larsen flexible fast set adhesive, it sounds like a huge amount for a relatively small area, what do you think?

Depending on the tile i would estimate 3 bags and quite possible 2 bags on a real good day.

You could check here http://www.ardex.co.uk/calculator_adhesives.asp
or http://www.simmyceramics.com/calculator.aspx

I would say about 3 bags also. You`ll not have much left if any from that.

Hi elaine..
Depending on the format of tile and trowel used...you normally get about 4mtrs to a 20kg bag......

In agreement it will take all of 3 x 20kg bags, get 4 bags and maybe end up taking one back. Better to look at one than look for it!!

4 bags should cover it. Like the guys say, if you have 1 left over, you can always get a refund from the tile shop if not used. Get a quote from one of the lads on here Elaine. I am sure someone else can help you out if you feel you are being ripped off!!

Same opinion from Germany: Calculate 2,7 - 3,0 kg/m2, so your 3-4 bags 20 kg should be absolutely enough, Martin
