| Re: Plastering course to help with tiling | | this becoming very popular indeed these days, we are getting people of all trades coming onto course starting to realise that having a wider skope of abilities to compliment their trade/business is a good source of income, we get window fitters, tilers plumbers and all kinds who are thinking rather than giving details of plasterers to customers when they have finished a job they can invest in a course and do the job themselves.
i would be a bit careful when selecting a course to make sure that you get enough skills because there is more than just skimming to bear in mind, also try and get a training provider who will allow you to call the trainers after the course as the advice they can give you will be from and experienced mind (and might save a potential disaster). you need know about preparation of different kinds background sufaces, pva etc p.s. im not a plasterer by the way!!!!! | | |

| Re: Plastering course to help with tiling | | Hey mate, I did a 5 day course on plastering which covered dry lining, skimming, some bonding out then touched on rendering. Was really useful!! I then put up a couple of boards in my garage and just kept going over that.....garage is now 3" wide Worthwhile!!!

| Re: Plastering course to help with tiling | | had to bring a plaster in to dot and dab a bathroom wall for me, he only charged her £50 (it was small) having watched him do it I thought thats easy, so when the kitchen (same house) also needed doing I jumped right in and did it myself making a few extra bob, it was so simple. I'm going on a course asap to learn the lot, another string to the bow can't hurt. After that its bathroom fitting. Fed up with plumbers who take my work cos they think they can tile, boot will be on other foot as soon as I get the loot to do the course. | | |
