I got one of those Karl Dahm silicone kits same as Grumpy and it is good but one thing i found is that if i sprayed the bead with soapy water first then ran the tool along it, it dragged most of it off the wall! I then used the tool without spraying with the water and it went ok but you do have to be careful with how much silicone you put on in the first place otherwise i found if too much collects on the tool then you end up with a "misty" strip of silicone either side of the main bead if that makes sense?

Then again i am new to this so i guess i need more practice!!

Hi All,
Was shown to use masking tape on a course and a small bowl with soapy water worked fine on the course but as stated in one of the threads can some times get 2 edges if applied to thick but once tape has been removed just rub over gently again and they will disapear.

hi fellas,

i know its been said many , many (!) times before that there are lots of ways to do it, i would suggest to anyone new to it, to try not to get intom habit of marking out with sellotape, masking tape etc for siliconoing as its not neccesarry once you've done it a few times with soapy water, a fairy liquid finger(ooof!) and a calm mind, (eg not despreatly trying to get the f**** sealing done casue you alreay running late!)

just think think that you will be causing yourself extra time in the long run if you always stick with that, give it a go freestyle! worst happens is you cover it wait really soapy water pull it all off and go again... just a though...
