| Advertising Question | | Ive just had a call from a manager from my local tesco and he is promoting a business card dispensing machine that has one of each local trade in there. (Which means ill be the only tiler allowed to avertise). The advertising spaces are set for 2 years and coats between £6 - £10 a week but they need a 25% deposit which is about 250 notes.
Bit steap i thought but with the amount of people that would walk past it each day would be thousands.
Just wondering what you other guys think if its a good idea or just another way for someone else to get money from me
Got a meetig with him on friday so i need your opionins pleeeease | | |

People walking out of tesco almost certainly ain't got their mind on tiling!
£10/wk into an endowment policy would give a much better return in the long run! |

| Re: Advertising Question | | I am with Gaz opinion. After all it seems to be an advertising contract: 52 Weeks x 2 years x 10 Pounds/week = 1.040 Pounds. From my experience these contracts can not bee canceled before the 2 years are over. I wouldn“t do that.

Local paper costs me 11 notes a week, do you think this will be a better option for me. at least am not tied to a contract
I might ring him and cancel, ahhhh they dont half put pressure on you these cold callers, they do my head in
----
This one is for grumps, whats an endowment policy and what can i get out of it if i put £10 a week in to it

Normally used to secure an interest only mortgage. The policy is designed to accrue a certain value over a given number of years, sufficient to pay off the capital balance of the mortgage when the full term is reached.
Much has been written in the press in recent years about mis-selling and the accrued value being insufficient in some cases to clear the mortgage capital.
They can still be used as a long term savings vehicle though. ANYONE CONTEMPLATING SUCH A MOVE SHOULD GET INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ADVICE BEFORE PROCEEDING. I am NOT an Independant Financial Advisor!!! So don't hold me responsible.

Started out just as a freelance bookkeeper but steadily progressed through to more "involved" accounting as my experience grew and my customers demanded more input. Because of this work, I became involved in a new company back in 2001 developing and bringing to market a radical off-road vehicle. I was a shareholder and Finance Director of the company until I resigned in 2006 to allow more experience business people to take the company forward.
I got into tiling as I needed a "fill-in" for periods of the year when my accounting work was not as regular as it had been. Strangely enough, things are picking up again along those lines.

| Re: Advertising Question | | Might be an idea if your not busy one day to spend the day or maybe a few hours over lunch at a said Tesco store and see how many people even notice the cards or take one. Presuming you get a call for every card removed it might give an indicator of volume if any of calls. I would not bother but you could leave a few cards in the 'tiles' section by mistake.... |
