Glazed tiles are coated with a liquid glass, which is then baked into the surface of the clay. The glaze provides an unlimited array of colors and designs as well as protects the tile from staining. The unglazed tiles are pretty much the same as the glazed tile, except that their surface is not coated. Full-body porcelain tiles do not show wear because their color extends throughout the tile, making them ideal for commercial applications.

Exactly mate..commercial applications where they will get lots of wear and tear!!( i.e shopping malls and airports )

As for a domestic kitchen a glazed porcelain tile will be fine....

Yes Dave i just fix in the commercial market in very busy shops in places like Oxford street ect most of the tiles are glazed porcelain that i use :Pete

alright PJC you sure there not very highly polished porcelain I'm not a commercial fixer myself but i know a lot of commercial fixers and most the stuff they lay is natural stone, Terrazo, and highly polished porcelain I'm talking about W.B simpsons here the largest and oldest commercial tile fixers in the UK.
