B + Q Tiles

What is the general feeling about tiles from B + Q!!!Over the past few months it seems most of my jobs have been with tiles from there.I recommend my usual tile retailers as part of my normal sales pitch, then find out that they have been to B + Q.Is this a growing trend that is helping customers costs but hindering professional tilers!

i dont like them, and people will buy them because the diy shop is closing down and they were cheap!!! yeh but what the shop didn't tell them was they are also majorly different sizes so when the poor bugger comes to your house to fit them he will charge you the extra you saved on these tiles to fix them because he has to cut them to get sizes right or generally faff about trying to get them looking nice bahhh

imo b&q tiles are pants,they are all usually shaded especially the white ones9CERAMIC)CALIBRATION of the tiles are shocking ,making them very hard and frustrating to work with.Itry to avoid at all costs.

Last 3 jobs have been B&Q tiles. Would say they ain't any worse than some i 've had from tile shops lately(although these were in the sale). Learned the hard way with 1st one's though.Only had 3mm grout line and tile was out 2-3mm. Now it's a 5mm line(easier to hide).

B&Q are the largest importer of tiles in the UK. So i'd get used to it. Topps are the largest tile and wood flooring specialist, but B&Q sell the most tiles.

Info correct of about 2004 - B&Q now much bigger with their Warehouses. Though Topps are still expanding I think B&Q will still be bigger.

You have a couple of advantages over the DIY stores when it comes to Topps. 1) The sales assistant will get you the tiles and will often check for shading - though it's always the down to the tiler to make sure EACH BOX is right before the tiles can't be returned (get stuck to the wall). With B&Q you don't get this service - and even when you do check you can find a big variation.

And the biggy 2) you can profit a little and build a good rapore with Topps, you can wonder around B&Q all day 7 days a week and you'd only attract attention from the security. It's nice to know you can shout a first name and get a "what's up mate?" and some help.

You can hammer topps (and other tile stores no doubt) with quotes on the phone or in the store and they'll sit down and go through them all, giving you retail and trade prices and colour options and will give you a couple of tiles if you go in often enough (usually costing newer traders a refundable deposit) and generally they don't mind it one bit. Try getting even the trade part of the few B&Q stores to do that!

Always mention that topps can beat the price of your tiles by a % if they can get the too. Though B&Q do / can have a lot of exclusive stuff.

Dan they bare still pants and untilo you have worked with the ****ty tiles recently then you have no idea m8 they are truely crap,i swear

They vary miles too much,was getting some plasterboard from B&Q and someone saw my t-s and asked me some advice on some black polished tiles 60*60 that cost 12 a metre.I just said look at the tiles on the display.There were only 4 tiles and they were all diferent sizes and I man 4-5mm.

They're a disgrace.
