Nearly there - a bit more advice please.

Hi All

Nearly laid my first floor, 5 sq metres of 60 x 60 porcelaine certainly was'nt the easiest but nearly there thanks to all the help from the forum.
A few more questions please:

1. How do you mark your lines for cutting on your tiles. I marked mine with chinagraph pencil and having a hell of a job getting it off. Used Lithofin intensive cleaner but still not shifted all of it. Any advice welcome.

2. I've sealed the tiles once with Lith. FZ impregnator. Should I do them again before or after I grout. I've got a seperate sealant for the grout. Advice please.

3. I've got the plumber coming in a few days to fit a back to the wall toilet. I want to protect the lovely new tiles and grout. I was thinking of covering the tiled area with sticky back plastic, the stuff you can protect carpets with and then put some hardboard etc on top. He makes a hell of a mess and wont give a dam about my nice new tiles. Advice please.

Hi Mick - I mark my cuts with a felt tip for dry so wipes away easy or pencil for wet cuts.I fit bathroom suites all the time - i would cover the tiles with a good dust sheet and protect on top with cardboad if u can get it.By the way - who is drilling the holes in the porcelain floor tiles for toilet fixing?

I wouldn't use a felt tip pen on through bodied porcelain...it will stain if not wiped off quickly.....a pencil usually does the trick....

Always wipe immediately Dave - always try to keep every type of tile spotless when fixing - hard to make yourself do at first but saves time and effort cleaning later.Cheers for the heads up though - will stick to pencils in future - ikea just down the road

i use the felt tips from tradetiler they dont stain anything

The tiler is drilling the holes for the toilet I hope !!!!
Otherwise it will be me, i've got those 365 drills bits which are supposed to be excellent.

No more china graph pencil for me then, a pencil it is.


Any ideas how to get the china graph marks out?

Try some nail varnish remover......great for that type of stain....do a test on some scrap tile first..........

Holoahana,yes 365 ok for porcelain tiles though they wont last as long as if been used on softer tile!!!
