Re: classi-seal
Classi seal is meant to be put on without ripples.
It is good gear and i'v never seen many problems, mind you seen one last week where a tiler cut it low in the corner and used no silicon.
I always fill the back with silicon and a bead along the front too for safety.

Re: classi-seal
Another point... how is the water getting through to the seal????
Have you no silicon along the base tiles?

Re: classi-seal
Thanks for the tip hillhead with the silicone , when you look at the black tar like strip of the classi seal it isnt completly smooth , its as if the machine that produced it layed it on thicker in places . When you look at the backing paper it appears rippled , i presume when i first applied it i didnt press this home enough to eradicate the uneveness or press out any small air bubbles in it therefore giving water somewhere to get through .
I did have a bead of silicone along the bottom where the tile meets the shower tray
Thanks Gixer

Re: classi-seal
Hi gixer, I don't like the sound of unevenness on the classi seal sticky part.
It is meant to be smooth so as to work effectively.
Don't be afraid to check that out, I will be fitting a marble tray today and a classi or similar seal going on it. I'll keep eyes peeled.
It does have to be smooth though.

Re: classi-seal
Personally i'm not a great fan of classi seal or similar products, i find best way to install tray is to silicone to edges to the walls when 1st installed, then tank/tile etc. then final bead of silicone. you can tank walls 1st then silicone tray in then tile and then finish bead of silicone...
good luck but I would ditch the classi seal if it is rippled..

Re: classi-seal
we had a thread recently about the classi seals, i think they're only good if the walls are bang on 90 degrees. any variation and the seal protrudes past the back of the tile

Re: classi-seal
Many thanks folks for the informative replies , unfortunately i have refitted the classi seal , taking more care this time to get a better seal to the shower tray with the classi seal , and applied silcone front and back . Fingers crossed this time no leaks . When reinstalling shower posts to wall am i right in thinking i should apply silicone at least to the bottom of these to help eradicate any further problems with leaking ??
thanks again Gixer

Re: classi-seal
Shower posts need siliconed too, then silicon around the outside of curve or 90 degree.
