Angry Need some help with ceramic trim pls

I've been tiling some 15 x 7.5 Fired Earth ceramic tiles in our kitchen over the weekend and I've completed most of the job, although now I've hit a snag - the trim around the window.

Can anyone advise the best way to actually fit the trim as shown in the photo below? To give it a neat look I was intending to fit it evenly on the external corner (as demonstrated), although trying to work out how to mitre this correctly is driving me potty!! If I cut it at a 45 deg angle with the trim laid flat, it doesn't look right at all? So I'm guessing it's supposed to be fitted flat on the facing side of the wall instead, with a 45 deg cut as that does seem to work?

Sorry if I'm being a bit of a plum, but Fired Earth don't provide any photo examples of the trim and their online installation guide is really vague. Oh and this is definitely listed as "trim" and not a dado rail by the way!

turn it so that the flat edge of your trim is against the upstand of your mitre block
