    Default Weber solution for floating floors

    I'm a Newbie, so Hi to everyone first of all,

    I'm tiling a floating floor due to customer wanting it done even though ive stressed my concerns.

    Job is 22m2 and to include ufh and travertine tiles. The existing floor is 20mm t&g weyroc on 70mm polystyrene.

    As ive read excellent advise on here before i was hoping for other peoples thoughts/experiences on the matter.

    I'm hoping if i follow webers procedure i will be doing the job as good as i can and less sleepless nights.

    Procedure includes

    Ply floor with 15mm wbp plywood (sealing backs and edges and leaving slight gap between boards for expansion)
    fit Marmox 6mm insulation boards (screwed every 200-300mm with marmox washers)
    lay devi mat ufh
    Screed floor with Weber floor flex
    Leave floor to dry the required time (1 day per 1mm of screed?)
    Tile with Weber setplus & weber ad250 or Weber set Rapid SPF (not sure which would be best??????)
    Grout with Weber joint pro (not sure whether to add ad250 for extra flexiblity???)

    I would be greatfull for anyones thoughts. If anyone would do anything extra or different your views would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    You may be quicker and cheaper removing the floating floor and using a suitable thickness Marmox type board thus eliminating the floating floor issues.

    I thought weber advise to lay floor flex at 25mm thick on that type of floor.

    I would go the marmox route too and have done several times and though a big fan of Weber, after speaking to their tech peeps regarding this very issue, they said they would only guarantee their products and not the substrate, which has to be deflection and movement free.

    Hi Stewart, do you mean rip up the floor and put marmox boards down? this isn't an option for me unforunatly as the kitchen has been fitted. I did look at this option prior to the installation but there are 2 stud walls built on top of the existing floor and the biggest board i could find was 50mm and at the minute the depth is 90mm

    I've had this feedback from Weber which i thought i'd share.

    The build-up you’ve noted below is fine, apart from the addition of AD250 to weber.joint pro, as weber.joint pro is a flexible grout and AD250 (or AD230) should not be added to it. Please find below some other useful information:

    1.Minimum thickness of weber.floor flex over the heating unit should be 10mm (at least 3mm over the heating elements);
    2.Weber.floor flex should be primed with weber PR360 at a ratio of 1:3 as indicated on the attached datasheet, prior to the installation of the tiles;
    3.Weber.set plus (or rapid) and AD250 would be better as it’s highly flexible.
