    Default Porcelain floor tiling questions

    Hi,
I have a few questions regarding floor tiling. This will be my first go but have done several wall tiling jobs which turned out ok.

Tiles are 600x600 polished porcelain in beige. Tiling onto a concrete floor in kitchen, utility and wc.

I need to self level the floor, today I bought Larsen acrylic primer and will put it down at the weekend. Is this good stuff? Needs to be still tacky prior to putting the leveller down.

1- Do I need latex self leveller or is the water based ok?
2- I have took the kickerboards off the cupboards, will I just let the self leveller go under the cupboards or put something up to stop it going under?
3- Adhesive- do I need a flexible one? Read on here to do so but fella in tile shop said the standard would bs fine- can get weber or mapei.

    Many thanks in advance

Most levellers are modified now , the ones I use are anyway. So a water based is my choice.

How much levelling is there to be done, around the edges I try and use something thin enough to stop the flow.

I always use flexible on all floors.

Approx 3mm in some places, generally it's ok but I want to do a good job with it. Do you recommend any adhesives?

Thanks for your help. Last question, I bought Larson acrylic primer, is it ok to use an ordinary concrete based self leveller- probably from bandq or the tile place- no Larson though??

you should use mapie adhesive it has a slightly long bucket life and will give you longer to set each tile level with the others laid.. there levelling will do the job for you as well good luck

Pop to a decent independent tile retailer or a tile chain outlet and buy a decent SLC... much better than the DIY sheds IMO..

Use a primer that is recommended by the SLC comp and try not to mix products..
