Re: sponges
Won't they be a bit small if you cut them into 4?

Re: sponges
I ask for 1 pint of lager and 2 half pint glasses when I go to the bar. Pour the pint into the half glasses and you have 2 drinks for the price of one!!!
The results of quality work last longer than the shock of the price

Might work better with a Victoria Sponge

Re: sponges
i often use those kitch sponges with the green scourer part on the back. those are great for all kinds of jobs. the green bit is great for when you leave grout too long or miss a bit the first time round. there a bit small for tiling on anything bigger than 1m2 as you are sick of rinsing it after that.
cutiing a normal sponge would end up with sponges around the size of the ones i use.

Re: sponges
If you keep the sponge as a whole then you can do 4 times the surface cleaning..

Don't use them on white grout, the grout turns green if you rub too hard!

Re: sponges
Sound idead I think if you got the larger sponges but I used to like the ones with rounded corners as I was able to use the edges a lot more (hard to explain in writing how but you basically were able to use one edge twice if you held it a certain way).

Must take you ages to grout anything Alan, get it right the first time then theres no need for scouring!
I do buy those sponges but I give them to the Mrs for doing the pots

Re: sponges
i know times a hard but cutting sponges into four to save money. i would give the game up

Re: sponges
Just buy a decent Ardex or Bal sponge and they last 8 times longer.
Rinse them clean after every job and keep older/cheap ones for coloured grout.
That's how to save money.

Re: sponges
If you get 4 sponges and tape them together you get a super-size sponge that you can work with 4 times faster.
One wipe for a 1sqm job! That's progress!

why not get a karl damn one , they are the best imo, and why would they be heavy, you dont fill them to the top with water , i just fill about 3-4 inch above the grill

Re: sponges
Tey are easier to wring out as well and faster

Re: sponges
Karl Dahm is a very good wash boy, far superior to the rubi.
Totally agree with nybor, you have to fill the rubi almost to the top & it feels quite flimsy.
I only fill my KD about 20/30mm above the grill & this is then less than half full of water.
You can buy wheels for the KD if you really need them.
I put a thread up a few weeks ago about washboys & the majority would go for a KD.
