Shower room ceiling
Hi Guys
This may seem a strange one but I have been asked to tile a small shower room, the customer wants the walls and ceiling done.
1st I have never tiled a ceiling before is there anything special I should consider ?
2nd This is quite a small room so there will be a lot of condensation and heat, again is there any advice on technique or materials I should watch out for (the reason I am nervous about this is a couple of tiles came off my parents bathroom ceiling in Spain and cut right through the bath so I am aware of the risk of damage or injury)
Cheers

Re: Shower room ceiling
what is the ceiling built off , has it been skimmed, what size tiles are you using,

Re: Shower room ceiling
The ceiling has been skimmed and the tiles are (off the top of my head) 6" x 8" but they are a cheap and light B&Q tile. Personally I think I will recommend not tiling the ceiling for health and safety reasons (the shower room is in a rental property) as he could be open to all sorts of problems if one fell off and caused injury.

Re: Shower room ceiling
Thanks guys, I had a word with the guy and he has agreed that it is better if we dont, I like the idea of mosaic tiling on the ceiling.

You could always put PVC panels on the ceiling....

Re: Shower room ceiling
As long as the prep and materials used are right I can't see a problem, tiled a large cieling in Chiswick a couple of years ago in a kitchen ( photos in my albums ) not had any problems.

Re: Shower room ceiling
Yes it can be done but prep must be solid... i'e not onto skim coat etc... and need to check what the truss set up is that is going to support..
