Need more info on the substrate as it is now before going any further. I wouldn't use that adhesive, plenty better adhesives out there.....but need that info on substrate 1st.

    Hi Sir Ramic

Sorry if I'm missing something here but these tiles are slate. Is this not enough info?

Hi kilty, thanks for your response.

Its 12mm overboarded WBP ply that has been well screwed to floor boards.

In my naevity, i didn't realise there we different types of slate. Is there any easy way to know this?

The substrate is what the floor is made up of. 12mm ply doesn't meet minimum British standards (15mm) and is never the best substrate to tile to. I would recommend over boarding with 6mm backer board fixed SPF adhesive and screwed. That adhesive is not one that I use and would recommend Weber or Mapei.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. A little confused as I'd already said it was wooden floor boards over boarded with 12mm WBP ply.

    Thank Stewart.

Did you screw the floorboards into the joists before screwing the ply into the floorboards.????

Stewart is right, use 6mm hardibacker boards stuck down with adhesive and screwed whilst adhesive is still wet.

    Then ready to tile.
