Default How long should patching plaster be left before it can be tiled over?

I've used patching plaster to a depth of 2-3mm in order to make good some areas. How long should I give it to dry, before tiling? (I will seal it with BAL APD Primer, when it is dry.)

    Thanks.

I would normally use rapid set adhesive for making good. Gypsum can cause problems down the line foe you.

If it was bonding coat or hardwall i'm not so sure you can use cement based rapid set on these, so skim is the option. how long it takes to dry will depend on which tiler you ask.

Thanks for your replies. I should have said that I applied the 2-3mm of patching plaster to plasterboard, having first brushed on some diluted PVA.

depending on room temp etc i would hazard a guess at 3/4 days or so.

From what I understand, it is pretty much standard practice to brush diluted PVA on to a bare wall and/or backing coat plaster prior to applying the skim coat. Here's a quote:

"Plasterers dilute it [PVA] to the recommendation on the container and brush it onto the wall. This creates a barrier and helps the plaster stick to the wall. It also prevents the plaster from drying out too fast and so helps prevent it cracking. You cannot normally plaster over finishing plaster without it cracking. Using a coat of PVA means that you can plaster over finishing plaster without it cracking."
