Side by side, I find MYOB just as easy to use but it is more of a "proper" accounting system. I may be wrong but I think MYOB has more "useful" functions for a tradesman, job costing for instance and the fact that you could create a "quote" (read estimate for our purposes) then change it to a confirmed "order"and then when the job is done, issue the final invoice. You don't even need to change any details if the job didn't change, except the final date of course.
I even have my accounts set up to produce a "Completion Certificate" to give with my final invoice, the customer signs it to say they are happy with the work and gives it you back.

PS As there is due to be an upgrade in about Feb 08, ALL MYOB software in the current version is available at half price until 2nd Jan 08! |

| I became Self Employed in July 1995 doing bookkeeping. I have never employed anyone but I produce payroll for a number of clients every month.
I started my Tiling in April this year and have to operate through a limited company so I don't have to apply VAT to my tiling sales. I am already VAT registered for my accounting business so this is the only way I could avoid being VAT registered.
As for MYOB, check ou this link http://myob.com/servlet/Satellite?c=...755&site=en_UK
Gives current pricing there. You will need to add VAT and carriage of £7.50+ VAT to the price you see there. I would rcommend "Accounting" as the best all round package for "proper" bookkeeping.

Like any new software (spreadsheets included) there is a learnigncurve you have to go through. Once you are hrough that it is really very easy to do your books, as long as you do it regularly and don't let it build up.
Even the initial set up is made reasonably easy as there are sample accounts templates you can use, you just need to select the correct one.
What you need to bear in mind is that accounting packages are really just fancy spreadsheets with a "form" front end to try and make things simple.
What do you do when you make an invoice Tysfoot?
