    Default Kitchen floor prep

Hi all, just about to start tiling my kitchen floor with 60 x 30 procelin tiles and also lay UFH. Just wanted confirmation that I am on the right lines and any advice if I have missed anything.

Concrete floor is old but looks in good nick, previously covered with thin slate tiles and lino on top of that. Floor has a few small dips, no more than 3/4 mm. As I am putting down backer boards to insulate the floor do I need to use a SLC or can I apply extra addy when fixing boards to floor? Also intend to use SLC on top of UFH cables so i am thinking this will level everything before tiling!

Clean and Prime concrete floor - What primer would you use?
Fix backer boards - what addy and depth would you recommend?
Lay UFH and cover with SLC - What SLC would you use with UFH?
Tile - what addy would you recomend for use with UFH?
    Grey tiles Grey Grout?

    Any advice appreciated

Why are you using backerboards to insulate and not thermal boards...

Insulation boards are available in 6mm and 10mm Mike (maybe other sizes also but these 2 are the main ones I use)

Tile Giant, Tops Tiles and Screwfix. I was looking at Mapei Keraflex and Keraquick, both say suitable for UFH and screwfix seems to be doing a good deal.

Mark, just checked and they are called "tile backer/insulation board".

Paperwork says "Heatstore Tile Backer boards are high quality, reinforced polymer coated underfloor heating insulation boards suitable for mounting onto concrete/screeded and timber floors, they can be used for under - tile/carpet/vinyl floors, they are not suitable for use with our underwood systems, these boards are available in 6mm and 10mm".

Is there a diference between Insulation and Thermal boards?

I took the tile backer board as being the hardie version which more of a cement board, you should be fine with the ones you have...
