about 2 weeks

some say 4 weeks. if you tile too early the shrinkage in the plaster could cause the tile to de-bond

2 days, some builders say!! But what do builders know![]()

Depends wether it was a skim on plasterboard or a float and set and about 13mm so more waiting time..

CHEERS guys for all the answers , he is just going to skim it and wait 3 to 4 weeks and then i will tile it

Hate it when i hear people getting walls skimmed before we go in & tile as almost always the walls are never flat. I have seen a lot of woefull plaster work over the years.
Check the wall out with a bead (spirit level) before you start so you can gauge how flat it is.
Hi probester, what tiles are you using , have you any weight issues tiling on skim?

Check this for guidence Tile Weights

agree with robson,if hes going to wait 4 weeks till you tile it check the wall 1st and ask for it to be straightened as well not just skimmed

When doing bathrooms you don't have the luxury of waiting 4 weeks for a 2mm skim to go off, I leave it as long as I can though and certainly until it's all light grey.
Sometimes after removing tiles from plasterboard there are areas that need a quick skim, alot of the 70's estates here have those prefabricated walls with egg box type material in 2 inch cavity.

theres so many factors to take into account. what i will say is, plaster will take longer to dry at this time of the year especially on new builds or extentions so make sure it has no dark coloured damp patches and above all, make sure the plaster will hold the weight of tile you have picked!! 4 weeks is the b/s guideline but other factors do come into the equation so if in doubt, stick to the rules and when you have more experience of substrates, you can judge things more expansively.
CHEERS for that mate
