Porcelain floor tile Questions
Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy porcelain tiles 600x600 around 14sqm and i'm looking for a plain off white/ ivory colour with no grain or effects within, i've looked at various sites and after reading some stories of tilers etc buying tiles that are ill fitting etc, I was wondering if there was a 'good' place to get them from and also, what should I look for when buying them, sealed, waxed, honed and are they all give or take 2-3mm in size difference as I really want to keep the grout lines to a minimum?
Many thanks

Cheers mate, i'll take a look, are they pre sealed etc?
-
-
Re: Porcelain floor tile Questions
yes they are meant to be nano sealed, the black ones i had no issues regarding sealer but the whites i actually sealed anyway just incase
beware when buying nano pre sealed tiles.....as all manaufacturers have different methods/half sealed etc and some do actually still need sealing

I have replied in your other thread as well but for my 2 penneth, if your not in a rush and want to take your time don't use the rapid set adhesive, go for a standard set flexi and you can take your time, remember to back butter the tiles with the flat edge of your trowel as you fix them so as to get 100% coverage

Re: Porcelain floor tile Questions
There are loads of really nice 60 x60 polished porcelain tiles in the market. They are normally consistent in size (unless you purchase them from B&Q where you get what you pay for) so you should have no issues with maintaining a 3mm grout joint. I always use a rapid set for floors but that is just my preference. Also, I prefer white addy when working with light coloured polished porcs.

What would you rather? Shadows in your tiles or a few less beers this month?

Sod the beers, with what this kitchen has cost me, a few more pounds wont hurt, dont wanna ruin the tiles, especially as the tiles are white/ivory.

Did you do the whole floor area with the sealer after it was laid and grouted?

Re: Porcelain floor tile Questions
That job was the utility room and downstairs loo so I stuck and grouted the floors then sealed and polished a couple of days later. There was no transit wax on the tiles so I did not have the cleaning process in between

It's easy to deal with. Just remember to remove the transit coating prior to grouting & sealing

Re: Porcelain floor tile Questions
The link should work, as it's not in a hidden part of the forum??
The thread was actually created by the forum administrator and discusses the quality of product and service.
Tile Giant would certainly be a better bet for you if you can find something that you like. Mention Tilersforums to the staff so that they know to be extra nice to you

Yes mate, the polished Jakarta 600x600 tile. I took one home and offered it up against the plinth and spot on and they are all rectified, so happy days. Never looked forward to tiling so much. . haha
