Cillit Bang.

Just had a call from a lady tonight...she has been in London all day and just got in, and her cleaner has cleaned her brand new marble shower with Cillit Bang
Looking at it tmro morning she said it is ruined, so may be an insurance job.. DONT USE CILLIT BANG ON NATURAL STONE

From what I understand from the restoration industry this product is bringing in a lot of work.

I would never use Cilit Bang on natural stone, I just use Coka Cola

I've never actually seen the results of cleaning stone with cillit bang, only heard the horror stories. Get some pics please Andrew, I'd be interested to see the damage.

Cillit bang is horrible toxic stuff anyhow... I don't understand how anyone would want to use it... I bought some when it first came out, against my better judgement and not reading the label properly, it didn't work very well and the smell and the environmental toxicity of it.. good grief... Didn't even seem to be safe to throw away...

You have to be careful, a lot of natural stone is very sensitive to really mild acids.

Yep, Doug (re it stripped the chrome plating off one our friends bath taps) I used a drain cleaner for the bathroom sink and it did the same.. not good not even caustic soda does that..

All the calcium based stones (Marble, Travertine and Limestone) are affected by acids and that includes products, such as Domestos, that claim to be Limescale removers

They do but destroy natural stone at the same time..

sorry that's what i meant by them being limescale removers - limescale is just deposits of calcium carbonate and these products dissolve the limescale and would do the same to to your lovely new calcium based stone tiles

Here are the damaged tiles. I only did one tile as a sample today to see the finish i could get back on them.
I used my Dremel with polishing pads. I first used a 800 grit then a 800 resin then a 1800 resin. Once happy with the finish i applied some color intensifier.

The first photo you can see the streaks and the third & and fourth (top left tileon fourth) are the finish i managed to get.

Im only polishing the streaks so with the dremel i have more control and i can feather the polishing. It is quite quick once you get set up. There are around 15 tiles and that one took 10 mins to do.
