Sorry no pics but I did a kitchen for a custo,er in 20 x 30 cm - looked ok

I've recently done a splash back with 600x300 gloss black porcelain, looked ok but had to take all the socket fronts off to fit in behind them, I do prefer smaller tiles for a splash back.

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
i have used a few bigger tiles
the best look i have found is the bigger the better...most splashbacks in height between worktop and cupboards are 500mm ish so a 600 by 600 tile can look good as its 1 solid peice fitted with 1 vertical grout lines
the down side is that your sockets can sometimes odten end up being plunge cuts
looks good tho imo
i also have used ones about 300 by 250 and i didnt like that effect

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
Did a job for a local family a few years back. They wanted these dark floor tiles, on their walls.
I thought it looked ok!

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
I cant see a problem with large format tiles for a splashback, was thinking of using them when I eventually get round to doing my kitchen.

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
im with kilty on this one,the bigger the better.why not get some tiles(diff sizes) on loan from the tile shop, you will have a better idea what size you like and what will work with your kitchen,

These are the largest I've used on a splashback if this gives you an idea.

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
Thanks PeteLooking at that top one I think I would prefer a much larger tile if I was going to do it.... then again that is my opinion, not the mrs' and therefore counts for very little I imagine.

This is my own kitchen ( still not finished yet)
The red glass tiles are 450mm x 150mm & the cream tiles are 500mm x 250mm, i wanted something different from smaller tiles in the kitchen & i thought this was a good compromise. sorry not great pics.

Re: Large tiles for a kitchen splashback?
R.M - thanks for that, given me a few more ideas that has.
Dave, I think that is the plan now, but if I make her think I am not happy about it but letting her have her own way then there should* be even more brownie points
*probably not correct as that would be logical.

Bolter; that looks pretty good, thanks for the pics

The only problem I see now would be having the weight of the tiles on the wall. They are plaster/skimmed plasterboard which obviously could not take the weight of heavy floor tiles (20kg-28kg/m2 depending on the plaster used I believe?).
just because they're large format doesn't mean the weight per metre is any more than smaller format tiles
