Suggestions please??
I have a house thatwas built in the sixties and the floorboards in the bathroom are 3/4" thick. I want to tile it throughout and would like to keep the finished bathroom floor at the same level as the hallway outside. What is the best way to achieve this? I was thinking along the lines of lifting the existing floorboards, putting in some dwangs between the joists then flooring with 6mm OSB and then laying 6mm no more ply to form the substrate. Would this work or any suggestions gratefully received!!

Re: Suggestions please??
Hi and welcome...
If you want tiles then you are going to have to have some height increase..
You can replace the floor boards with 22mm ply and tile to that but you will have to accept the height of the tile as an increase ..
What you plan to do will deffo result in a failure.

Re: Suggestions please??
Thanks for the answer Dave. Can you advise why my suggestion would not work? Your suggestion should be OK as the bathroom is carpeted at the moment so the extra tile height should be OK.

Re: Suggestions please??
6mm osb isnt strong enough imo for a base

Re: Suggestions please??
It is not strong enough and will not meet minimum requirements for tiling to.

Re: Suggestions please??
Thanks for the help guys. Would I still need the dwangs if I am using the 22mm ply?
