Default Premium Compac Quartz Floor Tiles or Starlight Quartz

    Hello,

I'm planning on laying some quartz tiles on my kitchen floor. I was all set to buy some Starlight quartz tiles after receiving the sample and I liking the look of them. I then spotted the premium quartz made by Compac and wondered if anybody knew what the difference was? Are they really twice as good? Is there anything wrong with the Starlight quartz at a reasonable £4 a tile?

    Thanks

Yes, they are. The 300x600 are £7.82. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to them?

That's a bit disappointing then. Can you elaborate a little on the quality of the cheaper tiles?

The cheaper ones have poor quality resins and can bow with heat and wetting.
If it is black starlight galaxy then you can buy true granite for around that cost

also, in my experience if I remember right the compac tiles are slightly thicker, darker and shinier than the starlight. As far as appearance goes it is hard to see any difference without both tiles in your hand though.

I have compared both in the past as both were stocked at a local tile shop.

Cheers for the info chaps. I'll see if I can find a local supplier and go and compare.

    Hi Dazzler,

In repsonse to your thread and PM, the Premium Quartz are made in Spain and are the best quality quartz that you can buy, this is reflected in the price.

The normal Starlight is made in Turkey and is much better quality that the chinese Quartz that Dave speaks about above but are not quite as good quality as the premium.

I hope this answers your questions.
