Default Tile association non member

Hi, It's a while ago now, I think it was about £170 to join, I am 59 yrs old, self tought and good at what I do, I believe in doing a quality job for my customers, but without specific qualifications I thought is was too difficult to join.
However, I talked to tilers around and no one had joined.
Never see a van with the logo on it.
I don't think many people care if you are a member or not as long as you do a good job.
Regards john

Been speaking to Mark Humphreys from PTS who is now on the board at The Tile Association and he tells me the benefits include the insurance and the simple fact that you are a member of the association.

Obviously the main thing here is the length of time you've been working. They'll allow you to join if you have an NVQ and Mark is working on trying to get some sort of teir perhaps where there could possibly be a chance of joining if you've be 'trained', and not just if you have "the qualifications". But it seems you would have to be in the trade for some time before you can join.

You also have to produce your accounts to show what you earn so they know what charge band you will be in.....this what they ask for...

How To Join The Tile Association

The Tile Association doesn't just accept anyone into their ranks providing they are prepared to pay. Every business wishing to join has its financial health and company reputation checked out. Fixers and tiling contractors will need to provide customer references and some projects may be inspected.
We will ask you for a copy of your latest annual accounts (you must have been trading at least two years) and a copy of your customer care policy. If you do not have a Customer Care Policy you will need to confirm your willingness to conform to the Tile Association Customer Care Policy.
