Default Need advice on cutting ceramic tile

Hello.. Newbi here so hope someone can help,Have a builder laying floor tiles (60 x 30 ceramic)and we need to cut 10mm strip off these tiles to use to fill a gap between channel drain and existing tile (for shower). He has had a couple of attempts and says it can't be done, (cutting a clean 10mm piece off to use)Can any confirm the above? And if so what is the bet option to use I.e. Angle grinder with diamond cutting blade?Cut would be along the 60 edgeThanks

    Hi and welcome..

He could score the tile and use a pair of nibblers to snap off or wet cut the 10mm off..

experienced Tiler and a quality wet or dry cutter, not a grinder.

Sounds like poor setting out to end up with a 10mm cut.

So what is his answer - to just grout it in!
You could take the wall tile off, achieve an extra 10mm then cut the 20mm off the floor tile and tile down to this with a new wall tile - thus providing a better seal to the floor.

I read wrong, thought you were trying cut 10mm off a tile to fit, not fill a 10mm gap...

Dont let an untrained builder mess around with probably thousands of pounds worth of materials and folks hard earned cash! then look for somebody else to sort it out for him.

Pay a local tiler to do the cuts for you try here or a your local tile shop, dont think ripping wall tiles is a good solution, probably wasted enough tiles as it is!

wet cutter will do it easy, gotta say though that it must've been poor setting out to end up with a 10mm cut.
