    Default scraper

    hi guys just wondering if any one nose of a good scraper,i need to scrap all this 2 part addy off the floor,layed about a year ago and its a nightmare with just a standard scraper

    i would use an sds drill with the chisel

    A good manual scraper is the bulldog, very heavy duty. Topps used to sell them, cracking tool, I will try to find a link

    Not the same brand. but it looks the same, very heavy does all the work for you.

    Yup great for removing tiles, not so sure on flexible adhesives unless you kept it sharp. Good tool though. Wickes sell them too and Screw fix

    What is the adhesive stuck to? If it is stuck to ply, you would be better to replace this, if it is on a screed then as above

    I have a tool like that but mine is called "The Mutt"... Love it!

    No wonder it needed to come up, chipboard is not a suitable surface to tile onto. Was it re-tiled?

    i guess,i dont know i wasjust told to scrap off all addy,clean up and leave it.why is chipboard not suitable?

    Thats alright, lets hope that you get paid to sort it out when it cracks and lifts again

    Chipboard is not stable enough to be tiled onto, it is made up of loads of little bits (off cuts). The slightest difference in moisture or humidity the chipboard swells and contracts, this will break the bond between the tile and the floor. If the chipboard is screwed down properly and there is no bounce in it, you can over board with a cement board but if not I would rip it out and replace with min 18mmboill and water proof ply then over board with a 6mm cement board. Have a read through the link below.
