    Default Kerapoxy/Mapei Glitter

    Afternoon all..

I got a quote at the weekend for a shower fitted above the bath incl tiling..

Heres the thing i asked if he had used kerapoxy before as I want the glittery effect using mapei glitter. Didnt get much response and was told that if I get the stuff he will do it. Hmm.. not the same as knowing what your doing but hey..

Its approx 7m2 and i have no clue how much kerapoxy to buy .. i have to get it online too so i dont want to buy too much as i cant really put it back. My tiles are black ceramic 400 x 250.

Also, will I need to buy tile edge trim? what size of spacers do i get?

Sorry for the stupid questions, dont do DIY just know what i want it to look like and dont want to waste money!

    Any advice appreciated..

Really your tiler should be able to tell you all this.
it will be Kerapoxy Design you will need and the glitter colour of your choice.

I know what i want and i have searched it all out due to the lack of response from him. Kerapoxy Design in Anthracite with Mapei Glitter in Silver is what I'm after. But yeah he's left it all to me which is pretty pointless and will end up costing me as i will no doubt have to overbuy just to make sure he has enough. *sigh*.. I think i might call another company and see if they are any more helpful or have a clue what i'm talking about as it doesn't seem like the guy iv got just now does. Thank you though

From what I can find out you will need 6kg (2 tubs of kerapoxy Design) and 4 sachets of glitter for 7m2. I would mix one 3kg and 2 sachets first and see if it could do the area, if so then you could at least sell it on but I doubt you will be able to cover 7m2 with just one tub.

Oh, good god, please hyacinth, get a tiler who gives you confidence that he knows what he is doing, backed up by a proper portfolio or website to show you (not magazine picture cut-outs), this should not be up to you, this is your home, it deserves the best of attention. You are asking all the right questions, if a tiler you are planning to employ cannot give you satisfactory answers, move on to the next one. Tiling done right is beautiful, bodged up terrible. Don't live with terrible. Live with gorgeous!

    Listen to Mosaic Girl.

Any "tiler" who cannot offer basic advice such as this should be beaten out of your house with a very big hurty stick.
Preferably BEFORE he makes a dog's dinner of your bathroom.

I agree with all above. There are so many good tilers out there that it is not worth just giving the work to the first pratt that turns up in a van. Epoxy isnt something you want done badly, get a couple of quotes and meet all the tilers you want to price, you should get a pretty good idea who really knows what they are on about
