Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Looking forward to seeing the progress Dave. Nothing like doing it all yourself.
Especially good when it's your own home as all those little problems you come across are treated as a
challenge and satisfying when overcome whereas on a paid job they are just a PITA

Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Hi Davemul,
Nice project, curious as to what shower tray former you are using. Have you put it straight onto joists?

Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Hiya.. Marmox showerstone. Direct to joists but with support tray for the gully hole

-
Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Good one..
I was slightly concerned when i saw the pic of the underside of the tray with the cut-out for the pipe that it might of been foam cored as per the Showerlay tray and would need full support.
Look forward to seeing the ongoing pics

Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Have to say I'm impressed with the plumbing!
Do you opt for push fit over soldering for the same reason I do: insurance?!

Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
I either use a local plumbers merchant for speedfix (plastic) or B&Q trade section if I am out of town for similar prices.
I use speedfix on copper pipe - I'm NO plumber either, but I'm insured and I know what I'm doing - kind of!
(Those copper pushfit are about four times the price of speedfix at a merchants)

Re: Bathroom project - Work in progress
Hi Dave, nice job mate. I cant wait to see pics when its done, I'm especially looking forward to seeing the glowing toilet flush button.
Grohe gear is top notch but damn expensive, worth the money though.
Is the bath mixer fed from unbalanced feeds? eg cold from mains and gravity hot, if so dont forget the non return valve on the hot to prevent cold entering the hot water system, which it will because of the higher cold pressure. It will push hot water back into the cylinder and back up into the loft tank and then pour out of the overflow. Granted it will only do this when your using hot and cold together, or if it develops an internal fault.
Many a young plumber has been caught out with that one, they keep replacing ballvalve washers but cant understand why the tank keeps filling!
Make sure you use the low pressure flap type or it will restrict the flow. Get them from BES Plumbing.
