    Default Shower screen in soon

I have done my shower channel set in the wall and all has now been plastered. I just need to fit my glass shower screen.

When i come to tile in the area do i butt the tile up to the glass or do i leave a channel for the grout ?

Do i also need to run a bead of silicone down the angle between the wall and the glass ?

You would normally set the screen etc on top of the tiles...

But een as you have set it in the wall , then the only option is to use silicone for sealing.

but that way you would see the ugly glass channel. This way the screnn comes out of the wall and looks clean.

what about the grout question ? Does the tile butt up or do you grout.

Ok so i leave a gap, but i dont want to use white silicone, so it will be clear. In this case can i fill the gap with grout ?

NO.. Use a silicone the same colour as the grout,, grout will not allow expansion.

Is it normal to use white silicone on a piece of shower glass though ? The whole point of using this type of thing is to get that minimalist look of the glass coming out of the wall. i havent really see one up close, so i am assuming a bead of white will not be that visable.

Personally i would use clear against glass.. but again it depends on the tile colour... all i can say is the choice of colour is yours but there needs to be expansion between the two.. silicone matching grout colour can work but again we cannot see what you do..

I was going to use clear and will still probably go with this. The gap i leave though is surley going to be filled up with my silicone bead ? I suppose the silicone will be flexible though so this is ok. I dont think you will notice a small gap.

What happens if you dont leave an expansion gap ?

Here is a pic. you can see the bathroom through the door and where my shower will be.IMG_0005.JPG

Stress can crack the screen or pop tiles off.

it may be possible to use a very thin white bead of silicon to fill the gap then next day go over it with a healthy bead of clear to seal it properly. i know it's best to do it in a oner but it would be a tidier finish this way. is this a new build? why are the internal walls so thick i.e wider than the door frames?

Thats sounds a good idea, about putting silicone in the grout jolint to look like grout. May give that some consideration

That wall is hiding the king post truss holding up the roof in the middle of the house. 100 yrs old. All now reinforced with steel plates and bolts
