Discuss another bad job in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; 6mm ply silicone as adhesive and bad joists aren't good for floor tiles, some chancer had done all of the previous and guess what. . . all of the porcelain ...

    Default another bad job

    6mm ply silicone as adhesive and bad joists aren't good for floor tiles, some chancer had done all of the previous and guess what. . . all of the porcelain tiles cracked. . what a surprise.
    I had to remove the lot, strengthen the floor joists with stilts overboard with no more ply, then lay a beautifull floor made to last. . . here's some pics

    I am loving the silicone one! How on earth did they think to use Silicone for tiling!!!

    Mate I was shocked when I saw the silicone, it was a first for me, I've seen it on walls but not floors

    i wonder if tiles popped up and they used silicone to glue them back for quick fix ?

    That sound logical (not right - but logical) Yes I bet they were coming away so some DIY-ER got the silicone gun out!

    or is it were they have tried to bridge across to a different substrate (seen that done before and yes it to failed)
