Re: 1st Job....
If the walls are flat and no deviations greater than +/- 3mm then ye it is fine....

Re: 1st Job....
Not really, just there is a drying time for bond/skim

Re: 1st Job....
But quite a few tilers like to use bagged adhesives over the tubbed dispersion types..

Re: 1st Job....
The use of slow setting adhesive can be used.. many adhesive comps make slow setting bagged adhesives.

Re: 1st Job....
you'll have to join the tilers arms for that but i'm sure you'll be allowed as you've got quite a few posts notched up

Re: 1st Job....
We do not like pricing discussed in the open forums, this is to prevent public eyes from seeing prices and then having the ability to bid tilers down etc..
All pricing is discussed in the Tilers Arms.. Where's the door to the Tilers Forums Arms?

Re: 1st Job....
Well off to have a crack at this job in the morning. Only really near a homebase or bq the walls have been bonded and skimmed last week so plenty time to dry. will this stuff do the trick:
UniBond Waterproof Adhesive - Standard from Homebase.co.uk

-
Re: 1st Job....
i wouldn't use that on anything other than a kitchen splashback. it's a dispersion adhesive so if it gets wet it will go soft again. use bagged (cement based) adhesives. you can get them at b and q. and if it's a shower/wet area you should think about tanking the walls

Re: 1st Job....
Its just a kitchen splashback just under 3sqm

Re: 1st Job....
If its bonded and skimmed it should usually be left upto 3 - 6 weeks to dry completely! A skim coat on plasterboard can be done once dry usually a week depending on conditions. Make sure that PVA is used on the walls prior to tiling.

Re: 1st Job....
As Mike, I would give the tubbed stuff a wide birth
