Help!: Flooded bathroom and floor tiles are coming loose.

Hi,
My cistern has kindly dispensed a large amount of water under the floor and its gone all the way through to my downstairs neighbour. I thinks the tiles are on woodchip base and they are coming loose. I've been advised by a mate to lift the tiles and then drill some holes in the board to help it dry. I'm not great at DIY so I'd appreciate some advice as to the best way to get this done. The grout is cracking in the worst affected areas. Thanks in advance.

Hello Dave and welcome..

You will need to remove the tiles and allow the floor to dry.. if any areas swell badly due to ingression then replace those boards..
The thing is with chipboard, it will soak water like a sponge.. and not an ideal substrate to tile to directly.
As for drilling holes.... that made me laff..

Thanks for the quick response. I think the idea behind drilling holes was to help the neighbour ceiling dry below.

Hi best to rip it all out as chipboard is like weetbix (vitabix ect) when it gets wet it looses its strength
