after a radiator and brackets have been taken off the wall and the wall is tiled, if you put the brackets back on to the tiles it would push the radiator past the pipes, no what i mean, what do you do, new brackets?

Either get a plumber to sort the brackets and pipes when it's fixed back to the wall or tile round the brackets.

I always tile round the brackets, unless it's a towel rail, then you need to get the pipes changed and re-attach the brackets over the tiles.

well this is 15mm pipes, just standard stuff, i thought all radiator pipes were same. for what reason do you need to get pipes changed if its a towel rail? will be doing a job and it will be a towel rail going back in

As you can see thru a towel rail the brackets need fitting on the tiles not cutting around them, that would look tatty.

Not so much replace, the pipes would need altering to the towel rail.

you may want to replace the copper pipe for chrome to match the towel rail or put 'chrome' covers over the copper. you would have to cut the tile around the pipes unless the plumber drains the system and leaves the pipes with no valves on whereby you can then drill holes for the pipes for a tidier finish

Get a plumber in... The system might need draining to do the pipe work.. and are you insured to do plumbing work..?
