    Default Slate Floor

    Hi

Would it be possible to tile over a slate floor that has been laid on a decoupling membrane? Would I need to remove the seal that has been applied to the existing floor before applying the adhesive? I know it isnt ideal but taking up the existing floor is a major job that the customer doesnt want to do.

    Any feedback would be appreciated

Slate is a layered natural material and i would not be willing to tile over it if it was me.... imo it isn't strong enough to hold as new layer of tiles on top..

I would definitely strip the floor and restart. Different substrates and on top of slate is a recipe for a failure IMO......
