Wall tiles to Floor tiles joint
Hi Guys,
what is the correct method of finishing of the joint between the wall tiles and the floor tiles?
Is it colour matched silicon as in internal corners or just grout as normal.
Tile wall first or floor first whats the preference
Wall tiles are 400 x 200 laying in brick pattern and floor is 450 x 450.
Just want to do the job right

Re: Wall tiles to Floor tiles joint
if it's not a wetroom then it don't matter tile the walls or floor first but i'd do the walls first as not to risk damage/dirtying the floor. you must use silicon in the wall to floor joint to allow for expansion/movement, you can get a colour match silicon with most grouts. the internal corners of the walls must be siliconed too, and the ceiling gap must be caulked same as the architrave.

Re: Wall tiles to Floor tiles joint
As wall tiles and floor are different sizes wall first..

Re: Wall tiles to Floor tiles joint
Wall floor transitions are classed as expansion joints.. so yes silicone..
Floor or walls first then it is each to their own, no set rules.. IMO.. as for wetrooms... not sure on that above.. the rooms are fully tanked.. so again doesn't matter.. as floor to wall transition is siliconed..

Re: Wall tiles to Floor tiles joint
If the wall and floor tiles were the same size and they wanted the tile joints to follow thru from wall to floor then I would have done the floor first...

i mean between the top tile and ceiling, it is best caulked (flexible decorators filler) rather than grout which would crack. also caulk the architrave as caulk is paintable. i mentioned in my first reply that i tile the wetroom floor before the bottom row of wall tiles as this will have less chance of leaking if the silicon fails as the wall tile overlaps the floor tile. that's my opinion anyway but i'm sure others have their own way
