Question Tiling over old floor tiles

Am just pricing a bathroom which has tiles on wooden floor. I need to divert some copper services under the floor in places and could probabaly do it without lifting the entire floor. Can I retile with new over the existing tiles and is some sort of sealer required.

Its not advisable. For one thing, say there are problems with the old floor (or substrate) and you go ahead and tile on top. Then you inherit anything thats done underneath as your own. Plus it will raise the floor even more. Will be a step up into the bathroom.

removing some of the tiles will no doubt weaken the current installation to a certain degree then tiling over the top sounds like a really bad idea imo

Best to remove especially on a timber substrate
