CITB Supervisors test

Need to sit this test Tesco are saying you need the card to get on there sites now. Does anyone know were do these tests in Glasgow and what company to go through ?

That's the construction industry training board.
I know they have a lot to do with government training centres etc.
Do a google search for them and get contact numbers.

The names do go about Phil but I thinks it's all the same.
I know I have citb skills certificates somewhere.
Seems odd for tesco to be asking for it?

I think your info may be wrong.Unless you are going to be a supervisor you should only need cscs health & saftey cert & a cscs card for tiling.If youre dealing direct with tesco youre very lucky,are you working though a contractor?

Mostly tile Tesco and Sainburys supermarkets althrough did the new morrisons in minehead last year

That does not sound right to me.Do you haved cscs H&S cert & cscs tiler.

Yes have my cscs card and all my labours have them, but been told as i'm in charge of them i must have the supervisors card or Tesco wont let me on any new jobs.

If you are working directly with Tesco & you are where the buck stops then you need the supervisers ticket.but not sure if you would need citb or cscs as ive only dealt with cscs.If you are doing the work though another contractor one of their bods should already have the cards required.

I do the supermarkets through a company and there telling me i must have this card as Tesco are cracking down, they say 1 person in the gang needs to have this card. One of my mates sat the test last year, the company set the test up for him but he had to pay for it out his own pocket.

If its set in stone then you have no choice.Done a somerfield 6weeks ago with no problem.It might cost you but bear in mind how big Tescos are.And the card you get will cover you for many other sites/contractors.

Yea i think its only Tesco that are saying this, might as well get it now in case it stops me from getting on jobs.Was the somerfield done in terrazzo ?

Yea i like a bit of the night shift store repairs, just a pain when the people who stack the shelfs walk over the barricade and stand on your fresh tiles lol

most big construction companys now insist on a supervisor being present on site, it doesnt matter whether theres 12 tilers or 1 thats the way its going now. I myself have a cscs gold card but had to go on a 2 day supervisors course and they are quite expensive, 350 -400 quid i think it was. My course was taken in sunderland and there were others there from different parts of the country so they must be few and far between. I think it was citb not sure, it was a couple of years ago now, The criteria required now is becoming a joke, the health & safety aspect especially the wearing of safety glasses all day is hopeless. The sites were a great place to work years ago but not any more, theres never a day goes by without an argument with the builder over H&S. Its gone mad.

Another way to make money... Money pit is the health & safety malarky..
