Cracked grout
I had a phone call today to ask if i would go and look at a shower area in which the grout has started cracking. It was re tiled 2 years ago (not by me). This is my dilema, do i: A) agree to re-grout it but tell her that it may well happen again and to ring me if it does and we can discuss a solution B) Tell her it will be best to remove the tiles and re do it as im asuming she won't know if it was tanked and walk away if she won't pay for this?
Any advice apreciated
Thanks, Adam

Re: Cracked grout
If the grout has cracked check what substrate is there, plasterboard could have had a hiding.

Re: Cracked grout
I can just see it now, dot and dabbed tiles with tubbed addy, no tanking and her insisting she just wants it re grouted then the whole wall of tiles crashing down round my ears as the grout starts coming out. ha

Re: Cracked grout
As above... work out why the grout is cracking, then go from there. I looked at a job at the start of the year With cracked grout and everything else looked perfect. It turned into a 10 grand re-fit.

Re: Cracked grout
Had somethink similar, not 10k though, cracked grout and wanted a regrout..one push of a tile and it disappeared through the sodden plasterboard.

Re: Cracked grout
All sorted now, there were only hairline cracks around some of the tiles but tiles themselves are on solid and shower area is tanked. job booked in for week on friday
