hello everyone
might have some fired earth very porous tiles to fix soon. im sorry but i dont know which tile they are having yet.

hello everyone
might have some fired earth very porous tiles to fix soon. im sorry but i dont know which tile they are having yet.
anyway heard a few horror stories about the sealing and grouting of these tiles. can anyone add anything or tips to make the job smoother please
how many coats and which sealer ideally,

Are you talking about floor tiles? You might find Fired Earth will supply your customer everything required to do the job. I think it's to do with their warranty or so they say. Adhesive,grout, Ditra mat and sealer often Lithofin MN Stain Stop. The number of coats needed depends on the stone. The last one I did was the reclaimed brick which took 4 coats.
The usual fixing applies. Work clean when fixing, one or two coats sealer prior to grouting and then as many coats sealer as it will take after grouting.

Good advice above.
Its very hard to advise without knowing what the tiles are but as Sandyfloor says, the chances are that fired earth will sell the lot. If not let us know what the customer has gone for and we can give a bit more info

cheers for the advice guys, i know its difficult without knowing the tile.
its getting laid onto a solid concrete floor, new build. would you guys still reccomend ditra matting

instead of ditra try dural ci mat its cheaper and phg wetrooms sell it at a good price .Defo need the membrane with stone imo .
