Low Profile Shower Base
Folks,
About to start my ensuite, and just wanted to ask a couple of quick questions :
- I was planning on lay porcelain tiles on the floor and walls... I have a 1200 x 900 offset quad MX stone resin shower base. I was thinking that trying to cut the tiles around the curved base would be too difficult... So I was thinking I would lay the tiles under the base, and use something like tile cement to take up any slack - What do you reckon guys ?
- Whilst the shower is not tanked at the moment, I seem to have read that this is mandatory now, so must be done - Could you guys confirm ? and what would you recommend ?
- The existing surfaces are plaster board with a skim over it... I had planned to remove the old tiles, clean up the surface, then tank and tile over. I know this is difficult, as there are lots of parameters, but would you guys recomment replacing the base surface ?
Thanks for your help...
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: Low Profile Shower Base
i would tile around the base. it's not too difficult to cut the tiles, a 4" grinder and a diamond blade will do the job.

Re: Low Profile Shower Base
Hi lupen first before you do anything you might have a weight issue with your walls, depending on what tiles you use. you would definetly tank your shower area if you are removing old tiles remove old skimmed plasterboard aswell and renew. This is before even thinking about shower base... walls prepped , floor prepped, shower tray installed, tank , tile.
