. Hardiebacker boards are cement based boards containing fibre cement. (No mesh)
. They contain ‘Mould block technology’ and come with a 10 year guarantee!
. Boards are unaffected by water for ‘short periods of time’ and are dimensionally stable, unlike ply boards which can rot, warp and disintigrate over time.
. HardieBoard has a ‘EZ Grid Pattern’ inpregnated onto its surface to ensure a better bond with adhesive.
. Hardieboards come in 2 sizes, Hardibacker 250 and Hardibacker 500.
. Cut boards by using a hardie scribe firmly applied approx 3 times and then snap the boards.
. WARNING!HARDIEBACKER BOARDS CONTAIN SILLICA DUST! – Always wear a mask/respirator and reduce the amount of dust by using dust reducing tools ie shears, jigsaw etc & cutting out side.

    HARDIBACKER 250:Hardibacker 250 boards are 6mm thick.
    . Boards sizes are1500mm x 900mm (boards weigh = 12kg)
. They are ideal for overlaying floors and countertops and ‘flat’ masonry walls.

    Installation ...
. Install by laying in a brick bond pattern
. Fix the boards onto a bed of SPF adhesive using a 6mm notched trowel and then mechanically fix using corrosion resistant screws at 200mm centres. (15mm from the edges and 50mm from corners)
. Ensure there is a 2mm gap between each board and 3mm away from walls and fittings etc.
. Use alkaline resistant fibre tape over the joints and seal/feather with a suitable SPF adhesive.
    .
. Note: Hardiebacker 250 boards can be fixed to ‘Masonary walls’ if the walls are to a good standard.
. Fix the boards to a bed of SPF adhesive using a 6mm notched trowel, then mechanically fix using 6mm x 100mm masonary anchors at 9 per board = 3 at the top, 3 at the middle, 3 at the bottom.

    HARDIBACKER 500: - Hardiebacker 500 boards are 12.5mm thick.
    . Boards sizes are 1200mm x 800mm (boards weigh = 13.8kg)
. Designed for walls and to be mechanically fixed to timber and metal frame work.

    Installation ...
. Fix hardiebacker 500 to timber or metal frame work at minimum of 400mm centres.
. Install by laying in a brick bond pattern and fit noggins to edges of the boards to stop weak points.
. Mechanically fix using corrosion resistant screws at 200mm centres. (15mm from edges and 50mm from corners)
. Ensure there is a 6mm expansion gap from floors, ceilings and adjacent walls. (fill with silicone)
. Use alkaline resistant fibre tape over the joints and seal/feather off with a suitable SPF adhesive.
. If there is No tanking – install a PVC membrane behind the boards and in corners of shower areas to prevent any water ingress.
