Bath panels.
Why is it the bath panels supplied with new baths do not take into account there will be tiles that are fitted under the edge of the bath and therefore need cutting which spoils the edge.
I usually tile just under the rim of the bath so there is no tile edge showing. Does anyone have a solution that might avoid cutting the end of the panel?

Re: Bath panels.
No, they all have to be cut. Some times there are no tiles ad they still dont fit!
The company i fit for make theirs from proper fibreglass and a real PITA to cut, especially the bow front baths and P shape ones as they seem to be deeper in the middle.

Re: Bath panels.
I use cordless angle grinder with diamond blade to cut panels works a treat

Re: Bath panels.
(floor tiles) if u install the bath just allow for the tile and addy and raise it a little. If they dont fit without tiles the plumber has messed up setting the bath up. (wall tiles) never had that problem always fitted without cutting panel.

Re: Bath panels.
i think the manufacturers of bath panels try to come up with new and innovative ways to wind up tilers. that's why i wont touch them. they're a plumbers nightmare as far as i'm concerned

those that understand binary and those that don't

Re: Bath panels.
the plumber fitting the bath should raise it 10/12mm to accomodate the tiles. if not i cut it with the grinder too. if i cut the strengthener away i silicon it back on a little higher so the panel isn't floppy

Re: Bath panels.
I am not concerned with the height since I will be fitting the bath, it is the ends that 'p' me off. Nice finish on the panel then you have to cut it off to make it fit.

Re: Bath panels.
i know what you mean
like i said tho i silicon the support back so the panel has some rigidity, i then silicon the cut edge to the tile

Depends on the quality of the panel as to how I cut them and I always frame them when i fit them so there's no movement.

Re: Bath panels.
i dont use bath panels. I make a support then plasterboard then tile and make a access panel with NMP which is siliconed not grouted.

surely that's the choice of the customer? would be difficult to tile a 'p' bath panel unless it's mosaics
