Discuss polished concrete ?? in the Tiling Forum at TilersForums; hi guys got a job in today been to measure and have a look roughly 9m2 and the customer says half is normal concrete and the other half is granite ...

    Default polished concrete ??

    hi guys got a job in today been to measure and have a look roughly 9m2 and the customer says half is normal concrete and the other half is granite which i beleave to be polished concrete they have bought 500X500 cream porcelains, he says hes had problems with tiles sticking to the polished concrete over the years whats the best way to attack this i was thinking primer g and keraquick any thoughts ???????

    Rough up the polished section (60 grit) then slurry coat and then tile, no probs

    Mainly polished concretes floors have a varnish applied after which is why they may have had problems (if it is PC).

    What makes you think it's polished concrete and not granite , both look very different

    didnt think it would be a solid granite floor it this possible when the house was built ??

    Make sure you abrade the floor well and then 50/50 sbr/rapidset slurry just to make sure of the best adhesion

    It's slower, but a sure thing, to use a bush hammer bit in an electric demo hammer, and abrade the surface that is polished or sealed.

    Scabble the polished concrete then overlay it with levelling compound if necessary.

    its 8 m2 floor in a kitchen but 6m2 is the extension on normal concrete but the original kitchen floor is polished concrete or granite
