    Default Splashbacks and wall

I am going to attempt a small tiling job myself in the bathroom of bath and basin splashbacks, plus shower splashbacks. Any recommended materials to use for a novice women tiler - or advice? Thanks peeps xx

Are larger tiles easier to work with, anyone recommend the best tile cutter?

Smaller tiles are easier to work with but big tiles look the best IMO. If you are only doing this job you dont want to be spending a fortune on a cutter so get a little wet saw from one of the DIY places, you will be able to do everything with it, a manual cutter will only allow you to do straight cuts. As for the adhesive, get a cement based powdered adhesive that is slow setting, this will allow you to work at your own pace.

Hello, need more info, what tiles are you using? Size?Thickness? What surface are they going on? Small tiles would be easier to start with. Type of cutter depends on tiles.

The basin and bath are the easy parts, when you say shower splashback, that sets off alarm bells, what do you mean by it, are you tiling a shower cubicle or is it an above bath variety ? Also, as mentioned, what wall types are you planning on fixing to, plasterboard / plaster / other. Thanks, a few more details needed, about this and what tile your thinking of.

If you are using your bathroom as practice to say hopefully build a business in tiling then i would agree with the advice about a wet cutter etc etc, if on the other hand you are just going to tile your bathroom and not go in tile installation you will probably be better off having a tiler come in and price it up for you, By the time you have payed out for all the materials and tools you will probably only be saving a few pounds, and you still have to tile the area.

Thanks for the info. It is a very small area 6ft x 6ft if that but quotes (I have had 5) are comig in about £4 per tile of 15cm x 6cm square to fit which I as hubbie lost his job we cany afford, so I am going to attempt myself. I am going to take off old tiles first to see what is underneath and post pictures :-) I will upload pictures later. Do I need to fit plasterboard? any advice will be appreciated x

Until you remove old tiles you wont know the next step.
Dont go mad with a sledge hammer though.
When the tiles are off, pics and more info will get you the right answers
