Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
Well i started my first tiling job with a company who does all the council flats. (done a tiling course) Been doing it for a while now. Everything seems to be going ok. Im now tiling 4 bathrooms a day thinking of setting up my own business. Was wondering what i would need to do to set up a business and get work ?
Thanks

Re: Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
4 bathrooms a day
i take it thats just a splashback? it's hard out there at the moment, it's maybe not the best time to go it alone, especially if you have a full time job. to set up a business is relatively easy, to establish it and make it successful is a lot harder. the initial outlay will be expensive too, tools, van, insurances, advertising etc. you may be able to work for your employer on a self-employed basis to start off, 4 bathrooms a day should earn you a lot of money!

Re: Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
when you say 4 bathrooms, is this fully tiled around bath only , or half tiled around bath

Just make sure you get paid for the work your doing first - give it a few years and gain the experience you'll need to progress to the real world - increase your 30 posts and get into the Tilers Arms - then all the information you'll need will be at your finger tips.

Re: Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
Yes , following orders from the company i was working for. I wouldnt say the work was 100% perfect as they asked for speed not quality but the bathrooms did look good when i finished.
That is 8am-6pm with a half hour break.

Re: Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
4 a day is achievable but it depends on the size of the tile , how good the walls are and how they are set out I dont think I could do it these days but I could tile 3 a day I think

Re: Update: Tiling Job ( in need of business advice)
plenty of tilers doing commercial work can do big meterage it why the prices are so low in that part of the business, tilers doing domestic work dont normally get that amount done in a day as they have so much work to do before they get a tile on the wall
