Help! Tiler started but sent him away
For the past 2.5 hrs I've lifted half of my kitchen floor tiles, scrubbed them clean and cleaned up the adhesive on the floor.
Reason being, I got a quote from a tiler, got him to start this morning and right from the start I didn't feel comfortable. He didn't measure correctly, when he nipped to the loo I measured up the sides of the floor and I would have had a 2inch thin strip at one and and almost a full tile at the other. Now this tiler has 40 years of experience so I thought ok he knows what he is doing. He started to lay the tiles, I was watching the news and came in for a quick peek at his work, all of the joins were out and he wasn't straight on his center line and the tiles were not level. I said I wasn't happy with this so he corrected it, it was a little better and hoped the grout would cover most of it up, but them he kept doing it, and the last straw was marking my tiles with a permanent marker for his cuts. So I has to stop him and send him away.
I'm a man and I should man up but I'm pretty cut up and I'm not embarrassed to say I shed a tear while scrubbing the adhesive off the tiles to save them.
We just want a nice home, right now after moving in we still have a house, it's not a home yet and everything is building up. This has really got me down.
I'm crying out for a good tiler to come in and do this job I have. I want someone that will do good joins, will lay the tiles level and won't inky my tiles. That's all I ask.
I have about 22m, kitchen, bathroom and 3 toilets. All floors have been primed, all upstairs are laid with NMP and I have everything here to start the job.
Please help.

Awwh, my heart goes out to you, but good for you for a) even noticing before it's too late and b) stopping the twerp before it's too late. Good luck with it all, TF is a good place to go to.

Sorry to hear that Kev, How did your efforts compare to his? You could have asked him his opinion on yours and see what he thought.
Hope you get it sorted out soon

Re: Help! Tiler started but sent him away
On the positive side Kev, you still have most of the tiles you bought and that's down to your vigilance. If you hadn't stepped in and then removed the adhesive today you really would have had a nightmare on your hands.

Well spotted and good on you for showing him the door. Make sure you show the same diligence with the new guys too, as there's nothing wrong with them being kept on your toes.

Thanks guys. :-)
No crying over football as I'm a Spurs fan and were doing rather well at the moment.
Tiler that is doing the job is a west ham supporter so were going to have a very interesting Saturday when we play.
Will post up pics when the job is done.

I never thought to ask him. I think my 3/4 job is not too bad, but I quickly realized that it was going to be too big of a job for me, especially with all the cuts.
