Default Vileroy and Boch suite and tiles

Just finished a customers bathroom today and started on their WC next door.

Mega pricey kit with some of the tiles worth £157/m2 and that's with 25% discount!
Suite just as pricey and tiling with 60x60s over a £1200 bath was scarey Mary.

Went to view this job in summer last year when I regrouted their kitchen floor. Girl Racer Red put them onto me when the customer joined the forum asking for advice of a leaking wetroom. Went there armed with my silicone (ever the optimist) to discover a decent looking bathroom at first glance but a total and utter botch job after 10 mins digging. Garage below bathroom so easy access.
The little wetroom area was built where there was once a cupboard (pitched roof jobby) Went into garage where it leaked and could see daylight! The wetroom floor consisted of 12mm MDF and you could see the tiles were 15mm proud of the wall with 4 blobs of ready mix - still soft.

Showed customer an area above bath where 4 tiles were barely clinging to the wall by the cracked grout and taped them up as they have 2 small kids. Advised that it was a full rip out and redo if they wanted their dream bathroom which they totally agreed with. Advised them to never use the shower wetroom bit as they could end up in the garage below.

Rip out and first fix went to plan. Having said that the lady of the house could not decide the exact height of the basin so agreed to retro-fit once tiling was done (I've got a rotozip!)

Had to board the entire room out in Aquapanel due the weight of the beasts I was putting up. One wall was stud so no probs but the rest were solid. Quick call to Aquapanel and they said that if solid you can screw and plug - good job as the bath was tight anyway so no room to stud out.

So with bath in place it was time to start tiling:

Was setting out the basin area and I happened to ask the width of the floating shelf.
Standard is 1000mm but they had measured before the rip out and asked for 800mm bespoke. Now the dimensions have obviously changed with the new tiles and boarding out so it meant a 6mm cement board to pack the shower area out. The idea is to have the basin shelf to finish exactly wherte the trim starts.

Rather than go for a wetroom floor I decided a shower tray lent itself best for the use of space. Ceiling of shower area is also to be tiled, downlight going in as well:

Lovely looking bathroom. Great post and a great read! Our experience is that Vileroy and Boch tiles are some of the HARDEST to drill. We often get people coming up to us at trade shows with tiles asking for demos and 9 times out of 10 they bring a V&B tile!

    You did good work!

is the towel rail on upside down, always thought the thin part of the rad went to the top. I know theres not a wrong or right way but it doesnt look right.

Fit them like that when new.
This was re-used from the rip out so it went back on the way it came off.

Got to drain down end of week for final fix of toilet rad, will see if they want it turning round. Was a big dint in the bottom (top bar) so maybe this is the reason.

Very nice job mate, one to be proud of and it's all the planning that goes in to these sort of bathrooms that really show in the end detail.

    Top class

Only thing i'm not keen on is the towel rail and that's not because it's upside down but just because it's a standard jobbie, would have liked to have seen a designer rad in there but then again you say it's the same one that came out so not a lot you can do.

On to the toilet next door.

Rip out, first fix and reboarded with Aquapanel.
Rad tails replaced with chrome. Basin to be retro-fitted as per bathroom. Toilet feed was surface mounted
in the corner with big stop tap. For neater job and avoid boxing in pipe work altered for the unusual back feed to new toilet:

Imperial pipe. No space to cut in ideal place so double backed through joist.
